The Cibus Biotechnologies hybrid RAS technology takes the best aspects of clear-water RAS and bio floc RAS technologies into a less expensive, streamlined, yet high producing approach. It is a nearly clear-water method that uses less complicated and expensive equipment than clear- water RAS and does not involve the constant monitoring and maintenance of bio floc, while retaining beneficial bacteria that contribute to overall shrimp health. Importantly, that bacteria contribute little to the BOD of the system, lending most of the oxygen in the system towards shrimp production. Our patent pending design ensures high oxygen levels and efficient waste capture of both sludge and protein foam from the surface of the operating pond. Shrimp can be raised to up to 8 kg/m3, and without the level of monitoring and inputs required to maintain bio floc. This system is highly adaptable to Indian farmers and permits intensive production densities.
Our proposed recirculating aquaculture system (RAS) is a modular hybrid water reuse technology that targets 60 MT/ 1.2 acre production of the Pacific white shrimp (Litopenaeus vannamei) and 200 MT production of the tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus) per year in an indoor bio-secure facility. This system will produce a high-quality product at high density that is free of disease and antibiotics, and economically beneficial to farmers.

Upon demonstrating the success of the pilot to the Indian shrimp industry, we along with the govt of Andhra Pradesh, are planning to have a Public Private Partnership whereby the farmer is provided with the CAPEX and operational expenses and a buy back arrangement assuring the farmer of an income which will be almost income 7 times the current levels.
