CIBUS Biotechnologies, a MSME Startup with a team of specialists having more than one million manhours of expertise in aquaculture. Having studied the growth of aquaculture in Asian countries with respect to conventional farming and poor productivity due to non-implementation of proven technologies, CIBUS was formed to take up this challenge in Indian Aquaculture industry and after a thorough study of Indian conditions for the past two years, have developed the following three technologies for which the application for patent is under submission.
Our commitment to excellence does not stop at the retail end. In addition to our modularized hybrid RAS technology, Cibus supplies the ongoing extension services and consulting to ensure successful implementation and troubleshooting of our indoor shrimp farming technology. Our key technical staff in India and the US have over 200 years combined experience in the shrimp farming industry and work closely with farmers to train in use of the system and industry-standard biosecurity practices, and will provide experience-based advice on seed and feed quality. Quarterly client reviews ensure goals are being met, as well as pre-emptive monitoring of the system through our iCloud network to respond rather than react to potential problems. Product buy-back programs are also available. A truly comprehensive package from start to finish.
Shrimp / Fish consume oxygen and feed and produce waste in the form of faeces, carbon dioxide and ammonia. When cultured in tanks without new clean water constantly flowing through, these waste products must be removed.
Recirculating aquaculture systems are designed to control culture conditions, manage waste streams, and minimize water consumption. RAS are intensive, usually indoor tank-based systems that achieve high rates of water re-use by filtering the wastewater.
The basic principles of recirculation systems concern the water treatment technology, which continuously remove the waste products and regenerate optimal water quality for the fish. Water from the fish tank flows to a mechanical filter and then to a biological filter before being aerated, stripped of carbon dioxide and eventually returned to the fish tank. Several other facilities can be added, such as oxygenation with pure oxygen, ultraviolet light or ozone disinfection, automatic pH regulation, heat exchanging, denitrification, etc. depending on the exact requirements.
Having setup RAS plants across the world by our team members and with an elaborate study on Indian coastal line where shrimp culture is currently being produced, we have developed a Hybrid RAS technology, which will have indigenous Indian components and the same is being offered to the entire industry trough governmental channels.
In India for one acre of land, the conventional technology yields about 3 tons with about 25% - 40% of mortality rate. This gives the farmer very less income and he is always at the beck and call of the factory / exporter as he has to get his money for them. Some farmers have financial aid from the banks, some farmers don’t have this from banks.
